A little bit about myself

My name is Sakis, I'm an indie games developer from Greece. I started game development as a hobby in early 2005 with Game Maker. I was one of the first developers back then who give more focus on 3D games using Game Maker (which is mostly for 2D games).
Most people may know me from Game Maker Community (with username sakisa) as the creator of the games Crimelife, Guns & Spurs, Mythology, Super Smash Battle and many more.
Now I'm using Unity3D to make games for iOS and Android. My most recent game 'Angel in Danger' which is a 3D platformer is published by Crescent Moon Games for iOS and Android.

In my real job I work as a web developer for a company here in Greece. I know C#, Javascript, html, css, php. I also work as a graphics artist and I also design the graphics for my own games (2D and 3D).
Today game development is my second job, still with the same passion and excitement.

GTA IV Episodes Coming To Disc As Standalone Game

Today's newly announced The Ballad of Gay Tony episode for Grand Theft Auto IV was only half of Rockstar's GTA news. The other half could usher in a new approach to downloadable content.

Rockstar Games announced that the fall-slated The Ballad of Gay Tony and the February-released GTA IV episode The Lost and Damned will be released as a compilation disc for the Xbox 360 this fall.

The disc, entitled Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City, will retail for $39.99. Unlike the downloadable versions of each episode, the disc-based Episodes will not require a copy of the original Grand Theft Auto IV to play.

Requiring that players own the core game has been the tradition for post-release DLC of major console games. Rockstar's announcement today signals the first prominent experiment with a second approach, one that treats add-on content as a standalone expansion playable on its own.

Platinum Arts Sandbox for 3D game development

I was searching on Youtube for various stuff about 3d game development and I found this:

Sandbox is a game design tool based on the Cube 2 engine that allows users to quickly and easily create and edit their own worlds in game, even cooperatively. It is free, open source, and easy to use for Kids and Adults.

It's not like Gamemaker but it looks interesting and easy to learn so I will give it a try.
You can download the program for FREE from the official site here.

EDIT: Only for kids. . .

my PC Games

I started working with Gamemaker since 2005. A game development tool focused mostly for 2D games, but my biggest passion was to create 3D games with it.
Started with the basics with almost zero knowledge of programming, followed many tutorials and videos and with the help of the amazing community at the GMC forums I learned a lot.
I created several games with Gamemaker, mostly was for fun and for personal practice to help me get some experience by trying all kinds of games. Very few of those games have made it to the public.
Bellow is a list with the games I created with Gamemaker in chronological order.
Feel free to download and enjoy my games. All your comments are welcome here.

A behind-the-scenes doc from Codemasters.
Gamers can today get the DiRT directly from inside the multi award-winning Codemasters® Racing Studio with the release of the Colin McRae: DiRT™ 2 ‘Studio Tour’ feature video, now available from www.dirt2game.com.

Introduced by Gavin Raeburn, Senior Executive Producer, the video reveals the tech that will drive Colin McRae: DiRT 2 and how it is enabling the studio to create an off-road racing experience that’s set to be peerless in both scope and delivery. Illustrated by the game’s first ever publicly-released gameplay footage, Gavin and the team begin by demonstrating the new particle physics system and the water technology.

The video then details how Colin McRae: DiRT 2’s drivers will be able to take their favourite vehicles through multiple racing disciplines, thanks to the new racing ‘packs’ that will enable players to customise their vehicle depending on the type of race they’re competing in. Gavin also discusses the specifics of the new handling system and how players will be doing the ‘Scandinavian Flick’ like Ken Block in no time.
